The Senate has reportedly ask NDDC to refund N40 billion that was paid to staff as palliative

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has been asked to return the fund paid to staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This call was made by the Senate ad hoc committee investigating the misappropriation of funds in the NDDC on Thursday, July 23.

 

Also, the panel asked the Niger Delta commission to report directly to President Muhammadu Buhari.

further, the committed asked Buhari to dissolve the IMC and set up a board for the commission, Premium Times reports.

 

 

The recommendations were read out by the chairman of the committee, Olubunmi Adetumbi.

According to the lawmakers, the commission has unlawfully spent over N40 billion of the commission’s fund within the last three months.

 

 

According to the committee, the commission spent billions of naira on “overseas travel allowance” at a time when countries were on lockdown and international flights were not operating.
