Pep Guardiola set to buy Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele in January

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly planning to secure the services of out-of-favour Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele in January.

The 2018 World Cup winning striker has endured limited playing time under coach Ernesto Valverde – with injury and other factors relegating him to the sidelines.

Antoine Griezmann and the emergence on wonderkid Ansu Fati are also part of the reason he has not been getting enough tome on the pitch this term.

So far this campaign, Dembele has made six appearances so far this campaign – three in the Champions League and three in the La Liga, scoring one goal in the process.

The forward’s struggles started with the seasoning opening game against Athletic Bilbao after picking up a hamstring injury.

Barca tried offloading the winger this summer but the deal failed to pull through with Paris Saint Germain listed as one of his destinations.

Premier League champions Man City have now jumped in the chase to land the former Borussia Dortmund star when the transfer window opens.

Daily Star reports that Guardiola wants to help the Dembele reach his full potential like he did for Rahem Sterling when he arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2016.

Barcelona on the other hand are ready to listen to offers from the Premier League club valued around £86 million for the player.
