The Biaconeri have been in the market for a new striker after releasing Gonzalo Higuain and Suarez has been their number one target.

But it is understood that the Chelsea striker Giroud has been seen as a serious alternative for the Uruguayan who could remain at the Camp Nou following Lionel Messi’s decision.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio, the Frenchman has reached an agreement in principle with the Italian champions over the next two years.

The 33-year-old faces stiff competition in Frank Lampard’s squad following the arrival of Timo Werner as well as Tammy Abraham.

Mitchy Batshuayi has already left for Crystal Palace while new signing Kai Havertz can serve as a back up striker which puts Giroud as fourth choice in the attack.

Giroud will need first-team action to keep his place with the Didier Deschamps’ squad ahead of next summer’s Euro 2020 finals.

The World Cup winner was linked with a move to Inter Milan back in January, but signed a new one-year deal in May.

Reports claim Giroud is valued around £4.6 million which would not cause problems for Juventus if they desire his signature.
