Speculation about the Frenchman’s exit from the club grew in the last few weeks after he was excluded from the Red Devils’ last two Premier League encounters.

Despite having a deal with United until the summer of 2021, the 26-year-old is keen on leaving the club with Real Madrid favoured as his best destination.

Pogba was also missing from their FA Cup third round goalless draw at the Molineux Stadium over the weekend. The Norwegian born tactician told BBC: “You won’t see Paul [Pogba] go in January.”

Man United have been linked with a move for Mexican star Raul Jimenez, but the embattled manager dodged answering the question on the attacker.

Solskjaer was coy on that link too, adding: “Another good player we have been linked with. He did really well today. I can’t comment on speculation.”

The manager also showered encomiums on Argentine star Sergio Romero for his performance and challenged him to fight David de Gea for the No 1 shirt.

“I’m happier to be in the replay than going out – it’s a tough place to come,” the United manager said.

“They had chances, Sergio Romero made some great saves and we got off the hook with the header.

“Sergio has never let us down, he’s kept so many clean sheets. He is a fantastic human being and a top professional.

“He’s putting pressure on David de Gea and that’s what we want. We want the best players in the world here.”
