However, a prominent person missing on the list is Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

President Buhari’s decision not to name any of the stations in the southwest after his predecessor has elicited some reactions on Twitter. Here are some of them:

JOHNTEEY, @johnteey, tweeted: “Obasanjo name is not added to the list… Buhari renamed railway stations.. Quick question, will the renaming help the country in any way? Renaming is an achievement in this country today? Mediocrity pro max”

Emeka Akpa, @emekaakpa_, said: “If the president named (or is naming) railway stations after prominent Nigerians, and not saints, then Obasanjo deserves to be so honoured.

“I’m typing this because of one of his policies as a civilian president.”

Agbo Wale, @AGBOOLAOJO, commented: “#Good morning g3, on naming of railway stations after prominent Nigerians,it’s a welcome development, but Buhari could have maintained his non partisan disposition completely by included former president Obasanjo and others in the naming.”

“And again, Nigeria youth want to make Buhari renaming railway look like another achievement. Can we stop getting distracted and focus on the real issue which is corruption.

“You have started fighting for Obasanjo that have refused to account for the 16billion electricity fund,” Olusegun, @theboyisgreat, tweeted.

Iyalaya, @lollylarry1, tweeted: “Baba Obasanjo will drop a letter soon, but I know say baba Buhari no send am. No time to check time”
