A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jackson Lekan Ojo has said the overbearing influence of Adams Oshiomhole and Bola Tinubu worked against the party’s candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the Edo governorship election.

Ojo’s made the statement in an exclusive chat with Vanguard when reacting to the outcome of the election.

The APC chieftain faulted a leader of the party, Tinubu, and former chairman of the party, Oshiomhole over what he described as their unnecessary influence in the weeks leading up to the Edo poll.

He argued that the chances of APC and its candidate, Ize-Iyamu, in the election were negatively affected by Oshiomhole’s overbearing influence on the campaign.

…”I know Ize-Iyamu to be a grassroots politician in Edo state politics but the involvement of Oshiomhole cost him dearly. People should realize that the forces that removed Oshiomhole as APC national chairman are still very much around,” Ojo said.

The party chieftain noted that Tinubu’s direct involvement in Ize-Iyamu’s campaign did more harm than good.

Ojo said the people of Edo state did not want Tinubu to determine who governs the state just like he did in Lagos by denying Akinwunmi Ambode a second term.

In another news, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has been advised to be magnanimous after his miraculous victory over the candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, on Saturday, September 19.
