The crucial meeting was announced on the verified Twitter handle of Bashir Ahmad, the president’s personal assistant on new media.

Although no official statement was or has been made about the agenda of the meeting, it is not unconnected with the ordeals of Nigerian traders in Ghana and diplomatic platforms to ensure a smoother bilateral relationship between both neighbouring nations.

Earlier, after ugly reports of friction, Ghana and Nigeria could be said to be on a path to lasting peace following the visit of the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Gbajabiamila who arrived the neighbouring West African nation on Wednesday, September 2, on a diplomatic mission, met with his Ghanaian counterpart, Mike Oquaye.

The lawmaker met with representatives of Nigerian traders in Ghana who recounted to him their ordeal at the hands of government officials.
